Where are my texts?

On your device, inside Write Words. Home lists them by project. A text you archive moves to Settings › Archive, where you can bring it back or delete it for good.

Backups

While a text is open, Write Words copies it every minute it changes, and once a day it copies every text with its history, to iCloud Drive, to a folder you choose in Files, or to this device. Change where in Settings › Backup. Each text has its own folder, with its latest copy (Latest.json), one backup a day for the last 14 days, and a Markdown copy that any app can open.

Backups are copies, not sync: a text edited on one device doesn't appear on another. To bring a text back, open its Markdown copy with Import in Write Words. The text returns; its sentence history starts again from there.

A new iPhone or iPad

Restoring your device from an iCloud or computer backup brings Write Words and your texts with it. Otherwise, import each text's Markdown copy from your backups.

Importing

Write Words opens Word, PDF, Pages, RTF, HTML, Markdown and plain text files: use Import on Home, or open a file with Write Words from Files or another app.

From Google Docs: in the Google Docs app, choose Share & export, then Send a copy, then Word, and pick Write Words in the share sheet. A link to a document shared with "Anyone with the link" also works. A private document's link can't be read without signing in to Google, so send a copy instead.

Feedback from Apple Intelligence

Feedback needs a device that supports Apple Intelligence, with Apple Intelligence turned on in Settings › Apple Intelligence & Siri. After it's turned on, the model may take a while to download. Write, Read and Revise work on every device.

Write Words Pro

Write and Read are free. Pro adds Revise, each sentence's history and feedback from Apple Intelligence. It starts with seven days free when you choose monthly or yearly.

• Cancel or change your plan in Write Words › Settings › Manage subscription, or in the Settings app › your name › Subscriptions. Cancel at least a day before it renews.
• Restore a purchase on a new device from Write Words › Settings › Plans and pricing › Restore purchase.
• Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Privacy

Write Words collects no data. Read the privacy policy.
